Self Evaluation

I am really happy with the way my final video came out. Just a month ago I hadn't even heard of Final Cut Pro. As a beginner I can say that my video came out great. If I had more time I would of liked to learn to use the software before hand instead of learning it as I go. If I knew exactly what I could do and how I could do it on Final Cut Pro I could have planned my story out better. This experience overall has inspired to look into video editing. I don't like coming up with my own story or shooting my own video but I enjoy adding art to videos.

Video Editing

This is my first time ever working with Final cut pro. As I began editing my video, I learned more and more about the software and it's capabilities. I cut out some shots and shortened other shots to stay within my time limit. The first scene when we see the girl put her chips in her room was completely removed. I felt that that shot wasn't needed to tell my story. I blurred out the people walking in the background of the hallway scene so the viewer could focus on the main character approaching the door. I used color corrector to brightened some of my shots and make the colors more vibrant. Once I became more familiar with Final Cut, I added special effects that was not included in my storyboard. The clock I added represents a stop in time. In that scene the main character stops to think about what her next move will be. The halo in the last scene was made in Photoshop. The halo emphasizes the character's innocent facial expression.

Story Board

The hardest part of the video project was coming up with a story board. Telling a whole story in a minute is hard. I was not sure about what effects I would use so that is not included in my story board. I did include sounds. I got all of my sounds from www.soundsnap.com/.

Video Project

My video project is all about nachos. A girl walks into her room and finds someone eating her nachos. The video stars my friend Caitie. I shot the video in my dorm room. The only props I used were a bag of chips and keys. The other items in the video were already in my room. I did not remove those items because I needed the room to look like a bedroom. My desk lamp was used to add extra light to my shots. I used the Canon PowerShot A1200 Digital Camera. The most difficult scene to shoot was the hallway scene. People kept walking and talking while I was filming.

Abstract photos

Here are some interesting photos I took by playing with the zoom button on my camera.

Peter Pan dance

This is a composite photo with some color correction. I lowered the saturation and increased the brightness of the entire photo so that it could have a more imaginary feel.

King Kong

“King Kong”

-Digital Image

-1800 x 1080 pixels

This is a composite photo with some color correction. I started out by finding a picture of king kong. Next thing I added was the sunset over the water background. Lastly, I added the planes. I copied a picture of a plane and added it three times to the picture. I blurred out the background so the focus of the picture could be on King Kong. In order to create the old school movie effect I made the entire image black white. Lastly I added noise to the image to give it an interesting effect. I added words to make it look like a movie poster.

Twisted

-2048x 1536 pixels

This is a composite image. I started by taking a blurry picture of myself and then I took a blurry picture of window shades. I put two copies of my face in front of the window shades. Lastly I put a filter over the entire image to create an interesting effect.
